The beautiful thing about writing, is that it requires no license, no certificate, no special training, and no special tools. Anyone who wants to do it, can do it. All you have to do is write.
So, I began to write and that’s when I realized an important fact about writing… It’s Hard! I think, more then anything else, being a writer take stubbornness. It doesn't really matter how much talent you have, if you're pig-headed and stubborn and not afraid to be your own critic and have the ability to trash pages of material that you’ve written, then you will probably be a pretty good writer. Now, if you want to be a "great" writer, well, you're going to have to figure that one out for yourself.
I reside a little north of the greatest city in the world, Kansas City Missouri. I love everything about this city, including it’s unstoppable roller derby team, The Kansas City Roller Warriors. I love it’s little hole in the wall coffee shops and its numerous art galleries and at the center of it all is its heartbeat, YJ’s Snackbar.
YJ’s is a place that can’t be explained in only a few sentences. It’s a hangout for anyone who hates being ordinary. Many of my writing ideas have come to me there, while eating pie at three or four in the morning. They serve leftovers! Seriously!
